Tattoo Convention Frequently Ased Questions

Q: Can I tattoo at this years Gathering?

A: Nope, this year there is no tattooing. Everyone is invited to get an artist pass and create art for the weekend. Sorry to say that the Paradise Tattoo Gathering 2011 has very few booths, is invite only, and for all intents and purposes is sold out. We have a small waiting list of artists recommended by the major sponsors and current lineup. The Tattoo Gathering is an event designed for artists to come and take part in the seminars, panels, and workshops. If you were tattooing you would be missing out on the opportunity to be learning! If your hell bent on working the show, then you should come and participate as all the people who scrub the invite list will be participating in the events all weekend. It truly is an honor so many artists would like to work the show, thanks for your interest.

Q: Can people get tattoos at the Paradise Tattoo Gathering?

A: Not this year, but next. 2011 will have many events, seminars, and workshops, there will be over 60 tattoo artists working throughout the weekend. MAny artists teaching will not be tattooing, including Guy Aitchison, Joe Capobianco, and Durb.

Q: How much do tattoos cost?

A: Artists set their own prices either be by the hour, piece, or session. You should discuss pricing with your tattoo artist prior to getting tattooed. The artists working the Paradise Tattoo Gathering are at the top of their game, you probably wont find too many artists working cheap, though everyone is very fair. Keep in mind tips are customary too. Tattoo Gathering LLC has nothing to do with pricing of tattoos by artists.

Q: How do I get a tattoo from one of the artists?

A: Many artists will book appointments prior to the event, and many will book their weekend on the first day of the show. If you are interested in having a tattoo done at the Gathering, it is recommended you research their work and try to make an appointment prior to the event. You must contact the artist directly to make an appointment and secure any deposits. Tattoo Gathering LLC is not involved in arranging appointments. Check out the artist list and email your artist directly!

Q: Is there an age minimum to receive a tattoo?

A: No one under the age of 18 is permitted to have a tattoo performed at the Tattoo Gathering- NO EXCEPTIONS. Prior to beginning any work, artists are required to obtain a copy of proof of the client’s age as well as a signed consent form.

Q: Is it safe to get a tattoo at a convention?

A: Yes, all exhibiting shops are licensed Tattooers and are required to adhere to strict health & sterilization requirements. The Western Mass Health Department and Health Educators will be on site monitoring artists to ensure proper health & sterilization requirements are being met.

Q: Can I bring my family to the event?

A: Yes- while we do not advertise this show as a ‘family’ event, we do not restrict attendees based on age. Each attendee must purchase a ticket and be wearing a wristband at all times. Please note that no tattoos will be given to anyone under the age of 18, regardless of parental consent.

Q: Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?

A: No, tickets will be available at the Welcome Center the day of the event. If you purchase your tickets in advance, you can avoid waiting in line at the Welcome Center! Lucky ticket holders may get a signed event poster mailed to them!

Q. I bought tickets and am no longer able to attend the show. Can I get a refund?

A. No. All tickets are non-refundable. No refunds will be issued for any reason.

Q: Do I need to purchase a separate ticket for the Jiminy Peak amusement park?

A: Yes, though there is a group rate if you mention you are with the Tattoo Gathering.

Q: Will there be food & beverages available at the event?

A: Yes, there are two restaurants and a general store at the resort.

Q: Can I bring a camera/take pictures?

A: Pictures are permitted ONLY IF you are taking pictures for yourself (not for profit or for a publication) with a non-professional camera AND receive permission from the artist and/or tattoo owner. Only those who have received specific permission from Tattoo Gathering, LLC and have obtained a press pass are permitted to use professional, SLR-type cameras and/or take pictures for any publication, website or otherwise for profit. The use of video cameras & camcorders is also restricted only to designated members of the press.

Q: I am a member of the press- how do I get a press pass?

A: All press requests must be made in advance by contacting Tattoo Gathering, LLC and will be granted to news organizations at our discretion. In general, press passes will only be granted to official members of the press able to produce official press credentials. We do not accept press pass requests from website/blog owners or contributors, online-only publications or broadcasts, or independent videographers/filmmakers. Those who are approved for a press pass will be on a list at the door, and can only be picked up by the person whose name is listed after displaying proper press credentials.
