Hello!
We are honored you would like to be on the volunteer staff for the Paradise Tattoo Gathering 2012, which will be held on September 13-19 at the Keystone Resort in keystone Colorado. Please read everything before applying, so we can help create the best experience for our visitors and staff. Our staff puts a great deal of time and hard work into the weekend, and we want to insure they have a fun time as well.
Please be aware that the work day starts with an orientation at 9:30am (unless otherwise noted) and finishes at 10 or 11:00pm depending on the day and job. Half days will be scheduled by request. Everyone will be given a meal break. When on break, you will be expected to return to your post promptly. We will try and cover short breaks (such as restroom breaks), but short means short. If we are able to let you go early on any day we will. We do not compensate our staff in money, but provide compensation in the form of collectible exclusive staff item(s), weekend passes, and opportunities to meet and learn from the tattooers working and attending the show.
Our expectations:
If you apply to be a volunteer, get accepted, and confirm your days and times, then we expect that you will show up ready to work. If we expect you to be somewhere at a time and place, be there. Of course life happens, so let us know in advance if you will not be able to volunteer any days you had confirmed.
While we don't enforce any formal dress code, we ask that you not wear offensive t-shirts or clothing that might offend guests or convention members. The Keystone Resort is a family friendly resort, and we are trying to show the public the world of tattooing in the most professional light possible.
No drinking or use of controlled substances: if you become intoxicated while on duty or report for work while intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance you will be ejected from the convention.
Be helpful and polite: Visitors have paid to enjoy the gathering and deserve polite helpful staff. Rude staff will not be tolerated. If you don't know the answer to a question, instead of saying "I don't know", say "I'll find out!" If all else fails, call Mary Brian, or Gabe on the Walkie Talkie.
Please show up a little early for your shift. It allows time for you to get caught up with the days events, and it's less nerve-wracking to the person who's waiting.
Your laminate will be held at the Welcome Center. DON'T LOSE YOUR BADGE; if you do, no more badge.
If you are not on duty, you have exactly the same privileges as any other convention attendee.
Get enough food and sleep. Sure the convention is a lot of fun, but if you want to be on staff please realize we need alert people, not tired hungry hung-over wastoids.
Thank you a ton for your consideration, we realize that volunteering for the Gathering is a lot of hard work, but the rewards of a job well done are very satisfying. The event can be a success because of your help and dedication.
We look forward to seeing you at the Paradise Tattoo Gathering!
